The Lowry Centre in Salford, Manchester, celebrates the work of local artist, L.S. Lowry. Famous in his lifetime for paintings of industrial northern scenes featuring trademark 'Matchstick Men', Lowry died in the 1980's.

Western Riding

I managed to track down an authentic Western riding stables in Surrey.

The owner had been a champion barrel racer in Vermont and brought her skills back home.

(Barrel racing is a rodeo event for women. Rider and horse race against the clock to complete a 'clover-leafed' shape course marked out by barrels).

The school boasts Mustangs, Apalusas and American quarterhorses.

I rode Picasso for the day. Marvellous.

An unlikely location for a Western event.....
